Acupuncture is one of the components of traditional Chinese medicine. It refers to inserting fine needles into the meridian points of a patient under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory and using acupuncture techniques such as twisting and lifting to stimulate specific parts of the human body to treat disease. A meridian is a channel that traverses the body transporting qi and blood, connecting the internal organs and the body surface. It runs up and down, communicates inside with outside, is an important part of the human body structure, and is a regulating system of human body functions.

The medicinal properties were obtained after repeated verification based on the actual curative effects, which is a summary of the various medical effects of the drug in nature. Specifically, it mainly includes the four qi, five flavours, and ascending/descending/floating/sinking. Different from the single component of most conventional medicine, traditional Chinese medicine has high compatibility.

Neil is a registered acupuncturist who’s interest in the profession started from a young age from how his grandparents treated digestive and gynecological/andrological disorders in China. He earned his diploma in acupuncture from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and is currently working on a research project about migraine headaches induced by work- and study-related stresses. He has further completed several specialty acupuncture courses, including Jiao Style scalp needling and Gao’s special needling technique to supplement his practice style. Yuan is a Registered Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner in BC. She has extensive training and knowledge in treating chronic diseases.

She graduated from Beijing Medical University, with a Bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine in 1999. Then, in 2007, she specialized in cardiology through a Master’s degree. In 2012, Yuan studied in the Department of Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in USA, the moved to Vancouver to obtain her TCM and acupuncture licenses. 

She has clinical hospital experience treating hypertension, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia, arrhythmia, and diabetes. Her treatment style involves integrating traditional Chinese and modern Western methods to treat various internal chronic diseases, such as menopausal-related issues, insomnia, and depression.
